A driver has been charged with DUI for a rollover wreck that shut down a part of Highway 17 Monday morning.

According to Trooper B.M. Riggs, 32-year-old Jimmie Boyd III, of New Bern, was driving his Ford Explorer on Highway 17 coming out of Bridgeton, when he ran off the road, over-corrected, and hit a guardrail. The impact caused the SUV to flip over at about 9:16 a.m. Monday.

Highway 17 just before the the bridge was reduced to one lane, but that stretch of road has since been fully reopened.
