GREENVILLE -

A man was arrested Saturday for allegedly firing a bullet into the air in Pitt County.

According to Greenville Police, officers who were patrolling in the area of Kristin Drive at around 10:30 p.m. when they heard a gunshot. They arrived at the scene where the shot was fired and learned from witnesses the shot was fired after an argument.

Melvin Blakely, 28, was arrested in connection with the crime. Police confiscated a gun.

No one was hurt.

Blakely was taken to jail under a $1,000 bond.
