The state Army National Guard is celebrating Friday in honor of the birthday of the U.S. Army's 239th birthday.
The events celebrate the Army's creation on June 14th, 1775, in the midst of the Revolutionary War.
The first major fight between British and American troops came just three days later in Boston, during the famous Battle of Bunker Hill.
The National Guard will use today's ceremony to highlight how the U.S. Army protects the country at home and overseas.
Friday's program is set to include a video from Secretary of the Army John McHugh, and a large birthday cake.
