New Bern Police are trying to find two men suspected in an armed robbery early Monday morning.
It happened on Arlington Circle at the Kensington Park Apartments off Neuse Boulevard. New Bern Police say this is the first reported armed robbery they have investigated at the Kensington Park Apartments this year but people who live there say this has definitely happened before.
"I've had a robbery right next door to my house," said Kensington Park resident Brandy Toledano.
New Bern Police say around 1:30 am two men, concealing their faces, burst through the front door of an apartment in building three. One had a gun and two children, 6 and 12, were home at the time.
"When I stepped outside on my porch I saw all the police cars and I was like well what done happened out here?", said Toledano."They had like four police cars parked right here along this curb."
NewsChannel12 talked to two adults, who were in the home at the time of the break-in, off camera. One woman said she had only been living in the home for about seven months. She says right now she's staying with family members.
Another family member said at one point she confronted one of the men as he was rummaging through one of the bedrooms. She said the man turned around and threatened her with his gun.
Police say no one was hurt and the robbers got away with a Playstation game system and a video game. Family members say the video games had been a gift given to the one of the children for a birthday over the weekend.
Toledano says she's concerned having three kids of her own.
"Every night you just hope nobody comes to try your apartment," said Toledano.
New Bern Police say they're looking for two black males who fled the scene in a silver car. Police believe this was not a random act. If you have any information or know who the suspects may be you're asked to call New Bern Police.
