"The announcement today blew me away, and we just embrace it," said Sabrina Bengel, New Bern Alderman.
The birthplace of Pepsi will now be the place where those who have the most invested will meet every year.
"A worldwide corporation is embracing New Bern and calling it home," said Bengel.
Pepsico announces it will hold it's annual shareholders meeting in New Bern. The corporation has chosen the colonial capital over bigger cities like Dallas and New York.
"There will be hundreds of shareholders in New Bern that will be enjoying our town," said Jeff Minges, Chairman and CEO, Minges Bottling Group, Inc.
New Bern Mayor, Lee Bettis, awarded Pepsico with the key to the city as a token of appreciation.
"Pepsico has been a key to the success of this city's economic vitality," said Bettis.
