NC Seafood Festival: How to be a festival pro

NC Seafood Festival: Jonathan's how-to guide

MOREHEAD CITY, CARTERET COUNTY - I may be a North Carolinian, but this will be my first time experiencing the North Carolina Seafood Festival. So there are a few questions I've wanted to know, like how to get there, where to park, and where the best place to eat is? Once I got into Morehead City, the first thing I noticed was the road closure signs and not a lot of street parking.

According to Marketing Chair Cheryl Pigott, there will be free parking at the North Carolina Port which is located at the end of Arendell Street and there will be a sign telling you where to go.

Parking will be free Saturday and Sunday only with a free shuttle service.

Once you find a place to park, you'll want to download a North Carolina Seafood Festival App on your phone. Here, you will be directed to where all of the vendors are at. The app will also alert you to the times of the performances.

Vendors from all over will set up and down Evans Street with a string of fresh local seafood for you to enjoy, including Carolina Princess.

Now that your bellies are full, you might want to head on over to 7th Street and Arendell, where your kids can enjoy some festival rides.

Another fun event you may want to take part in is the Flounder Fling, a popular event where contestants fling a frozen flounder into a frying pan.

That event will take place on Saturday at noon, where Miss North Carolina will fling the first fish.

So now that we know where to go and what to do, get out and enjoy some North Carolina seafood!
