FAYETTEVILLE, CUMBERLAND COUNTY -

State health officials have identified the source of a salmonella outbreak that made at least 100 people sick in Cumberland County.

The Fayetteville Observer reports that the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services identified the source Tuesday as the All American Grill in the Holiday Inn Bordeaux. Officials couldn't identify the specific food source of the salmonella bacteria, but said the bacteria was likely spread through cross-contamination of food products and restaurant surfaces.

The outbreak occurred in May.

Cumberland County and state health investigators also said some employees continued working after contracting salmonellosis and may have contributed to the spread of the bacteria and contamination of food products.
