NC economic board unveils jobs plan to Gov McCrory
North Carolina business leaders, educators and elected officials have given Gov. Pat McCrory what's billed as a road map for the state's economic prosperity for the next decade.
The North Carolina Economic Development Board presented its proposal Friday to McCrory and Commerce Secretary Sharon Decker.
The board worked for six months on the report, which is its first strategic plan in nearly a decade. The report proposes the state focus on growing more than three dozen industries and enhancing education in eight categories. It says North Carolina needs a new branding strategy and a "closing fund" McCrory can use to win over companies choosing between states.
The report comes as McCrory and Decker are moving some Commerce Department activities to a new private nonprofit.
