A ferry that stranded 34 people for 24 hours after it ran aground on a Lake Erie sandbar has been pulled out by a tugboat, authorities said Friday.
Coast Guard teams assessing ways to refuel and remove the boat, had been hampered by inclement weather and 3- to 4-foot swells.
The ferry ran aground near Kingsville Harbour in southern Ontario on Thursday, and is headed back to Leamington, Ontario, using its own power, officials said.
No injuries have been reported.
Kingsville Harbour is about 40 kilometers (25 miles) southeast of Detroit.
