NASA has picked a Jacksonville woman to be a potential astronaut.
Christina M. Hammock, 34, holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, according to NASA's website. She works for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) as a station chief in Samoa.
Hammock is undergoing a training program at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, according to NASA.
NASA spent a year and a half searching for the eight candidates.
