A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect through 7p.m. Monday for Bertie County. Bertie is the only county in our area that is under this watch. Damaging winds are the biggest threat.
Meanwhile, flooding is the primary threat for all counties in Eastern Carolina. As of 5 p.m. Monday, as much as 2 inches of rain have fallen in places of Craven County.
An Area Flood Warning is in effect for Pamlico and Craven Counties through 6:15 p.m. Monday. This warning was triggered after heavy rains covered the entire county. Localized flooding is likely, and will begin to subside after 6:15 p.m. There have been some power outages reported in Pamlico County.
Strong storms are forecast to continue to track across our area through the early evening. Threats won't diminish until overnight.
