McCrory, others to speak at North Carolina state conventions

RALEIGH, WAKE COUNTY - The Republican Party convention starts Friday at Harrah's Cherokee Casino Resort.

Speakers for the GOP include Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal and former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee. Governor Pat McCrory and State House Speaker Thom Tillis will also speak.

Tillis won the party's Senate nomination, and will take on Democratic incumbent Kay Hagan in November's general election.

The Democratic convention starts on Saturday in Raleigh.

North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper, who is planning a 2016 gubernatorial run, is expected to speak at the dinner, which will precede the party's annual Jefferson-Jackson Dinner.
