Marine Corps celebrates 238th birthday with ceremony

Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune is scheduled to commemorate the Marine Corps' 238th birthday with a Joint Daytime Ceremony Wednesday morning at Liversedge Field.

The ceremony will start at 10 a.m. and will rededicate the National and Marine Corps Colors.

The event also involves Marines from 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force, subordinate commands and Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune.

The birthday pageant will include a traditional cake-cutting ceremony and a procession of the Marine Corps uniforms dating from 1775 to the present.

This ceremony is open to the general public.
