KINSTON, LENOIR COUNTY - Police are looking for whoever shot two men at an apartment complex in Kinston.
They say Ricky Davis, 25, and Miguel Wingate, 22, were shot just before midnight Saturday at the Carver Court Apartments on Bright Street.
"I heard three shots, bang, bang, bang. I looked around and I got fully in the corner and did not move," said Ethel Edwards, who lives feet away from where the shooting happened.
Ian Matthews was asleep when the shots were fired, but came outside to a crime scene next to his door. "I seen yellow tape all around my back door, from this area all the way on around," he said as he motioned around the area outside his apartment. Now he says he is "scared, nervous, shaken." He added, "I wanna move. I wanna get way from here."
Davis was treated at Lenoir Memorial hospital and released. Wingate is at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. Officials say he is in critical condition.
Investigators say they have not limited their search area to the complex. They are searching in multiple areas around town for clues. "Somebody that shoots two individuals needs to be taken off the streets as soon as possible," said Woody Spencer from the Kinston Department of Public Safety.
Police say it appears that the two men knew the shooter. They say there is no danger to the public.
Police are still investigating and they don't have any suspects.
