Man beaten, victim of carjacking

KINSTON, LENOIR COUNTY -

Officials said a man was beaten before becoming the victim of a carjacking early Wednesday morning.

Nikie Harris, 34, was visiting friends on Sycamore Road in Kinston and when he was leaving around 12:15 A.M., a fight broke out. During the fight, someone pulled out a handgun and Harris' vehicle was taken. Harris was taken to Lenoir Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Kinston police are looking for the suspects involved. They said the suspects were described as four or five black males.

The stolen vehicle was a light blue 1999 Buick LeSabre with custom chrome wheels; that vehicle was recovered just after 8:00 a.m.
