A former maintenance employee at an apartment complex for ECU students has been arrested for allegedly breaking into several units at the building.
Curtis Andrew Prax was taken into custody on Jan. 3 and has been charged with 19 counts each of felony breaking and entering, and larceny after breaking and entering.
According to Greenville Police, Prax broke into several units at the North Campus Crossing apartment complex. Most of the victims reported items stolen from their rooms with no signs of forced entry, investigators said. Items stolen included money, electronics, and jewelry.
Police said most of the break-ins happened during holiday break for the ECU students who live at the apartment complex.
The investigation eventually led officers to Prax, who had worked as a maintenance employee at the apartment complex, police said. Prax was arrested and was issued a $100,000 secured bond.
Police said they expect more victims to come forward as students return to classes.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. C.S. Dawson of the Greenville Police Department at 252-329-4179.
Curtis was a college student when he worked as a maintenance employee at the apartment complex, said investigators. He was working in return for rent.
