N.C. man parlays fishing luck into $4M lottery win
A Wilson County man who had a good day fishing landed an even bigger prize from the North Carolina Education Lottery.
Will Critzer, of Sims, caught five bass before he went to work on Monday. Then, he recalled that he'd bought a scratch-off ticket and decided to see if his luck was still good. His scratching revealed that he had become the second person in the state to win top prize in the $4,000,000 Gold Bullion game.
The winner can either claim the prize as a 20-year annuity or a lump sum in either cash or gold bullion. Critzer chose the cash option of $2.4 million, which after taxes amounted to $1.6 million.
Critzer said he would use the money to pay for college for his two children as well as his retirement.
