Goldsboro man arrested and charged with first-degree burglary

GOLDSBORO, Wayne County - After two months of investigating, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man on charges of first degree burglary, resisting an officer and violation of a court order.

Lyneil Antonio Washington Jr., a 28-year-old South Goldsboro resident, has been charged on one of several cases that are currently being investigated by the Sheriff's Office.

On July 3, 2017, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office received a call of an attempted first-degree burglary on Spring Bank Road off NC 111 South in the early hours of the morning. Patrol officers responded to that location and attempted to locate a suspect, but were unsuccessful.

Approximately 25 minutes later, the patrol received another call on Bett Drive of a first-degree burglary in progress. The location of this crime was just behind the previous call. Deputies responded to the scene and started an investigation.

While out on this call, they received another first-degree burglary call just down the street. Deputies responded to this call and started looking for the suspect. At this time, detectives and the crime scene unit found that the suspect had attempted to enter nine other locations. Crime scene detectives then processed each scene and secured evidence from these locations.

Based on the information from the victims, detectives interviewed multiple individuals who live in the proximity of the crimes. The evidence in the cases was submitted to the North Carolina Crime Lab for processing.

Throughout the past two months, multiple detectives worked several leads in these cases. Based on the investigation and evidence, the suspect has been charged on only one of these cases.

The Detective Division is working closely with the Wayne County District Attorney's Office and the North Carolina Crime Lab for further charges in these cases. More charges are pending at this time.
