Veterans Day freebies in Eastern North Carolina

NEW BERN, Craven County - Veterans Day is November 11 and people across Eastern North Carolina are getting ready for a day full of good deals and freebies in honor of those who have served in the United States military. Here are a few of the best deals that have come across our newsdesk so far:

Starbucks

Jacksonville is one of a select group of cities around the country with a Starbucks Military Family Store. These special stores are located near major military bases, like Camp Lejeune Marine Corps, and have a specific focus on hiring and honoring veterans and military spouses.

Because of this special connection, these stores are planning big things for Veterans Day, November 11:

  • Any Veteran, active duty military and military spouse who visits Starbucks on Nov. 11 will be treated to a free tall coffee. 
  • Through November 15, for every Veterans Day Starbucks Card purchased, Starbucks will donate $5 to Veterans organizations strengthening our communities through service: Team Rubicon, Team Red, White & Blue, and The Mission Continues.
  • Also through November 15, Starbucks partners (employees) can donate their weekly coffee bag benefit to troops serving overseas, building on the 60,000 pounds of coffee (1.5 million cups!) shipped to service members overseas last year.

For those of you who do not live near one of these stores, all Starbucks in the United States and Canada are offering a buy one drink, get one free deal from November 9 through 13 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Texas Roadhouse

This Veterans Day, Texas Roadhouse is offering veterans and active duty members of the United States military to enjoy a free lunch on Saturday, November 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

All veterans, including all active, retired or former United States military, can choose one of 10 entrees, including a 6-ounce sirloin and two made-from-scratch sides plus a choice of any Coca-Cola product, iced tea or coffee during lunch. Guests must show proof of service such as military or VA card, or discharge papers to get the deal.

Tryon Palace

Tryon Palace will offer free admission to all active duty, veterans and their immediate family members on Veterans Day, Saturday, November 11 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This free admission will include the Governor's Palace, historic homes, North Carolina History Center attractions and 16 acres of gardens. Military ID or proof of service is required for free admission.

NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores

The Aquarium is offering a chance to celebrate Veterans Day with free admission for everyone from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will also be an on-site food drive for Martha's Mission Cupboard. Guests are asked to bring your contribution of non-perishable edibles to the Aquarium as you enter. Participation in the food drive is not required to enter during free admission day. Green Clean Auto Spa

This auto spa in is offering free car washes on Saturday, November 11, for veterans, active duty and retired military at Green Clean Auto Spa, 2170 Gum Branch Rd. in Jacksonville. Check out their tweet about the event here.

Aquaventure

Aquaventure Aquatic Campus will honor the military with a free month of membership. The facility will offer free memberships Nov. 10-12. Bring a military ID or other proof of service when signing up. Applebee's

You can grab a free meal at any local Applebee's on Veterans Day this year. Beverages and gratuity is not included. Veterans and active duty military can simply show proof of military service to get the deal.

IHOP

All active duty and retired Veterans are invited to visit their local IHOP and enjoy free Red, White, & Blue Pancakes Friday, November 10. As part of their Pancakes with a Purpose deal, $1 from the purchase of every Red, White & Blue Combo from November 1-30 goes to support Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation.

Ruby Tuesday

Veterans can swing by their local Ruby Tuesday to score a free appetizer on Veterans Day this year. Read more about their deals on their website here.

American Dream Cakes, Inc.

This veteran owned bakery, located at 1121 Gum Branch Rd. in Jacksonville, is giving out a free cupcake to all active, retired or dependent with a military ID on Veteran's Day. Grab a free One-Month Individual Membership for all veterans from November 10 through 12 in honor of Veterans Day. Golden Corral
