GREENVILLE, Pitt County - Police are searching for three suspects that allegedly worked together to steal a woman's wallet inside a local Harris Teeter..
On October 13, at approximately 2:30 p.m., officials with the Greenville Police Department responded to the Harris Teeter at 3040 Evans Street in reference to a larceny of a wallet.
On arrival, the victim told officers that her wallet was stolen out of her purse while it was in her shopping cart.
Video surveillance shows a Hispanic male distracting the woman by asking her questions, while a Hispanic female rifles through the woman's purse to steal the wallet.
The victim did not realize that her wallet was missing until she went to the register to pay for her groceries.
Between the time the wallet was taken and the time it was reported stolen to police and the victim's financial institution, the thieves had already racked up several thousand dollars in charges on the victim's credit card at two Greenville stores, officials said in a post on the Greenville Police Department Facebook page.
Store surveillance cameras also show the original female suspect and a second female suspect attempting to use the victim's card at a third store, but those purchases were denied.
Anyone who can identify these individuals is urged to call Officer Daltroff with the Greenville Police Department at (252) 329-4300 or Crime Stoppers at (252) 758-7777.
Crime Stoppers offers up to a $2,500 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
