JACKSONVILLE, Onslow County - The search is on for a missing 3-year-old girl in Onslow County.
3-year-old Mariah Woods was reported missing at 6:45 a.m. Monday morning, Sheriff Hans Miller confirmed.
Sheriff Miller said that he has put out an Amber Alert request and a reverse 911 call within a five mile limit of the area to let locals know what they are doing.
Sheriff Miller said officials are "working everything that can be worked to find this little girl." He said a full description of Mariah would be available as soon as the Amber Alert is made official.
Onslow County emergency services are helping in the search.
"We don't know what happened," Miller said. "It's entirely premature to try to determine what happened."
Four volunteer fire departments, law enforcement officials and K9 units are conducting a search in the wooded area near Dawson Cabin Road. There are at least three to four Onslow County Sheriff's Department vehicles on the scene.
Onslow County Communications is flying a drone in the area to aid in the search. A helicopter from New Hanover County Sheriff's Office is also assisting.
The Provost Marshals Office from Camp Lejeune is also helping, along with Camp Lejeune range control.
Miller said that officials have interviews the mother of the little girl and her live-in boyfriend. They also conducted a search of the house and vehicle.
Officials are asking neighbors in the area to check their yards, sheds and other areas for any evidence of a little girl.
