JACKSONVILLE, Onslow County - The city of Jacksonville is hosting a workshop to help nonprofits.
More than 100 board members from nonprofits across the city attended. The city requires nonprofits that get money from them to attend the training.
The session featured a number of guest speakers that teach the nonprofits about topics like money management and how to implement a strategic action plan. UNCW's nonprofit enhancement agency helps put on the training. Organizers said Jacksonville is among only a few communities that offer the training.
"We identified a need to really help our nonprofits," Jacksonville Community Development Administrator Lillie Gray. "They are such a value to the city. They provide services that if they were not here, the city of Jacksonville would have to do."
The session will continue on Friday. The city has been holding the sessions for 20 years now.
