ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WEAR) - The Escambia County Sheriff's Office said they've arrested a woman in the death of a missing private investigator and former Jacksonville (N.C.) Police Department officer.
Ashley McArthur has been arrested for the death of 33-year-old Taylor Wright.
Wright was a private investigator and worked for the Jacksonville PD on two separate occasions for a total of nearly three years.
She was reported missing to police on September 7.
Around noon on Thursday, a body believed to be Wright was found in a wooded area of Britt Road.
Officer Wright served with the Jacksonville Police Department from January of 2008 until August of 2009, officials from the Jacksonville Police Department said in a press release. She was rehired in July of 2012, serving until December, 2013.
"Officer Taylor Wright was a brave and spirited young officer, who we were happy to rehire to service when she returned to the area in 2012," JPD Deputy Chief Timothy A. Malfitano said. "She was a loved and valued member of our law enforcement family. We offer our heartfelt condolences to Taylor's family and friends."
The sheriff's office said they are continuing to investigate this incident. They're working with the Pensacola Police Department in this case.
