LAGRANGE, Lenoir County - The search is on for a Mount Olive man who the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said was involved in the assault of two people in LaGrange on Monday.
Eleazar Cardenas, 32, (last known address of 104 Star Point Dr. in Mount Olive) is wanted for two counts of felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. Detectives and other personnel from the Wayne County Sheriff's Office are attempting to locate Cardenas.
Deputies responded to the a shooting call at 135 Willis Lane in LaGrange. When they arrived, they located Megan Goodman suffering from what was believed to be shotgun pellet wounds to her legs. Goodman said after she had been shot she fled the area, hid in a field for a short period of time and then ran to 135 Willis Lane to seek help. She reported to the deputies that she thought her male friend had also been shot while he was at 2359 Piney Grove Church Road with her.
Goodman was later arrested for failure to appear from Iredell County for felony obtaining property by false pretenses. She was given a $16,500 bond and placed in the Wayne County Detention Center.
Deputies then went to 2359 Piney Grove Church Road to investigate and found blood at the scene. They later came across Anthony Mark Williams, who walked up to the location. He said he had gone to search for Goodman then went to sleep in a nearby field. Williams was suffering from injuries consistent with having being beat around his head and was transported to Wayne UNC Health Care for treatment.
