Man turns himself in for January shooting death

KINSTON, Lenoir County - A suspect wanted in connection to the shooting death of a man back in January has turned himself in.

Joshua Sutton turned himself into Kinston Police on Tuesday, November 21, after warrants for his arrest for murder and armed robbery were issued by police.

Sutton is being charged in connection to the January 30, 2017 murder of Alton Ray McKnight. He was placed in the Lenoir County Jail with a $1,000,000 bond.

Kinston Police arrested a suspect in the shooting death of a man back in January.

Carlos Earl Fields had a warrant placed for his arrest on Friday. Fields was already in the Pitt County Detention Center on unrelated charges. He's now also facing murder and armed robbery charges.

On Jan. 30, Alton Ray McKnight, 37, was shot and killed while sitting in his vehicle while parked along the 400 block of South Tiffany Street in Kinston. The case has remained under active investigation by members of the Kinston Police Department since that time.
