LA GRANGE, Lenoir County - The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office responded to 308 W. Queen Street in La Grange for reports of shots fired around 1:15 a.m. Sunday.
According to Lenoir County Sheriff, Ronnie Ingram, deputies found four gunshot victims at the scene in an outbuilding on the property.
"Basically its two storage buildings. They joined them together and made this like a little party type room," said Ingram.
Three of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene and one was treated by EMS and transported to Vidant Medical Center by helicopter for further treatment. The victim was listed as being in stable condition earlier this afternoon.
La Grange neighbors were shocked by the incident. One lady said she was "amazed" and its "really crazy out here." Another man described one of the victims as being someone who "would give you the shirt off his back."
Lenoir County Detectives and Crime Scene personnel stayed on scene from 2 in the morning until just after 12 this afternoon. Ingram says the investigation is still ongoing. At this time the Sheriff's Office is not releasing names of the victim and would not say if they had leads for the suspect.
