Carteret County Health Department would like to thank the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament Charity First for donating $11,500 to purchase equipment for the Health Department's Adult Health clinic. Equipment purchased with the donation included an EKG machine, vital sign equipment, exam room lights and procedures stands, and autoclave supplies.
"We thank the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament Charity First for investing in the community's health. Funds were used to replace aged equipment and to purchase an EKG machine allowing the Health Department to offer EKG testing on-site. This new equipment assists the Health Department with delivering high-quality care to patients at an affordable cost and allows us to increase our capabilities," states Kim Davis, RN, Nursing Supervisor at Carteret County Health Department.
The Health Department operates an Adult Health clinic providing primary care services to uninsured and insured patients. Primary care services include medical care for acute (e.g. sinus infections) and chronic (e.g. high cholesterol) illnesses, exams for pre-employment, school entry, and foster care, and immunizations. For patients without insurance, the Health Department uses a sliding fee scale, which determines payment for services according to income and family size.
