BEAUFORT, Carteret County - Tourist season is wrapping up in Carteret County. But Beaufort has a festival this weekend that's worth sticking around for.
Beaufort's Brewin Craft Beer Festival began Friday. It's in its second year and is put on by Beaufort Wine and Food. Executive Director Lindsey Parker couldn't be more excited about it.
"It's a lot of fun, it's exciting on a lot of levels," Parker said. "North Carolina in general has a really awesome brewing culture, brewing scene. So to see those businesses pop up and do so well here locally, it's just really exciting to get them on board."
Saturday is about more than beer. The morning kicks off with a road race followed by the Beer, Bubbles and Barbecue event from 4-7 p.m. Tickets can be bought at the door and proceeds will be donated to local non-profits.
So while it isn't tourism season anymore, the scheduling of the beer festival couldn't be any better.
"It's also ramping up for beer season," Parker said. "You've got all of your Oktoberfest fall beers coming out so it really fits perfectly to schedule it this time of year."
There are also a number of other festivals and events in October. The 31st annual Seafood Festival (Oct. 6-8), Mumfest (Oct. 13-15), Havelock Chili Festival (Oct. 20-21) will also be taking place.
