A Jacksonville home was struck by lightning during Thursday night's severe weather.
Jacksonville Fire and Emergency Services responded to a home on the 700 block of Decatur Road at about 9:35 p.m. Thursday.
According to the residents, they heard a loud boom from outside the living room window during the thunderstorm. They then smelled smoke.
Fire crews said they found no fire, but they did find a high heat signature on the interior wall of the living room. Heat damage was also found on an exterior wall.
As a precaution, the residents were asked to add additional smoke alarms and replace any alarms that were more than 10 years old.
