KINSTON, LENOIR COUNTY - Kinston Police are investigating two shootings that happened less than 24 hours a part.
The most recent shooting happened on Monday afternoon on Old Snow Hill Road and Dixon Street.
Kinston Police say they received a call of a man shot around 4:30 p.m. When emergency service crews arrived, they found 19-year-old Dontario Turnage lying in a yard, injured from a gunshot wound.
Turnage was rushed to Vidant Medical Center. Kinston Police say he was conscious and alert before being sent to the hospital.
Investigators do not know how many suspects are involved, or how they escaped the seen. A motive for this shooting is unknown at the time.
That's not the only shooting Kinston Police are investigating. On Sunday, investigators say 20-year-old Keith Lindell Williams was shot and taken to the hospital.
Williams told officers he was fixing the chain on his bicycle on the 400 block of Stadiem Drive when someone shot him, said police. Williams was shot in the back and right wrist.
Investigators said Williams then went across Old Snow Hill Road to Brothers Store and was driven to Lenoir Memorial Hospital. Williams was later taken to Vidant Medical Center, where he was listed as stable as of Monday afternoon.
At last check, no arrest had been made and there was no word on a motive. Anyone with information is asked to call the Kinston Department of Public Safety at 252-939-4020 (tips line).
Police said Williams was also the victim of a shooting on July 3.
