GREENVILLE, PITT COUNTY -

Power crews with Greenville Utilities worked through the night replacing a power pole after 1,400 customers were left in the cold without power early Wednesday.

The power outage was reported at about 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, according to an official with Greenville Utilities.

A major residential area was affected on South Evans Street in between Greenville Boulevard and Fire Tower Road. An official tells NewsChannel 12 the outage lasted roughly two hours. Power was reportedly restored at about 2:45 a.m.

The cause for the outage was not clear at last check but crews believe the freezing cold weather could have contributed. 

After crews restored power they worked to replace a power pole along Evans Street.
