Grinding crash injures 2 people

NEW BERN, CRAVEN COUNTY - Weather might have been a factor in a crash that injured two people in New Bern.

Police said a man driving a small car lost control and hit a Trailblazer head on.

The incident happened after 6:30 p.m. near the corner of Neuse Boulevard and Simmons Street.

Crews had to extricate a person in the car. The driver suffered serious injuries, according to a NewsChannel 12 photographer, and was taken to Carolina East Medical Center.

We spoke with the driver of the SUV, who may have a broken ankle as a result of the accident.

"The first thing I thought was get out of the car...But my foot was trapped between the brake pedal and the floor," Ron Baker, the driver of the Trailblazer said.
