NEW BERN, CRAVEN COUNTY -

Two blocked roads in downtown New Bern have reopened after crews repaired a gas leak.

City officials said the leak was reported at about 6:40 a.m. Thursday in front of the Farmer's Market on South Front Street. Middle and Metcalf Streets were blocked off, but have since reopened.

Emergency officials said the leak was caused when a construction crew hit a gas line while working on a project. Construction has been on-going in the downtown area for the last several weeks.
