Update: Arrest made in Kinston shooting
An arrest has been made in connection with a weekend shooting in Kinston.
Members of the Investigative, Gang and Narcotics Unit arrested Colby Wilson, 18, Monday afternoon.
Wilson is a suspect in the shooting that happened Sunday morning on Hyman Ave, officials said.
Wilson is charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and discharging a firearm in the city limits.
He was placed in the Lenoir County Jail under a $1 million bond.
Kinston has experienced four shooting related incidents in two weeks.
The two most recent ones happened less than twenty-four hours apart from each other.
The Kinston Department of Public Safety say two men were shot on Hyman Ave. Authorities have identified these men as Enricoh Rufus, 22 and Dontae Fordham, 24. Neighbors say they saw the two injured men lying in the street.
"When I looked outside I was like oh my goodness," said neighbor Octavia Smith. "It's just crazy."
Authorities say the second shooting happened early Monday morning, shortly after midnight. Law officials say shots were fired into a home on Martin Drive.
"They need to catch whoever is out here doing all these shootings," said Neicy Butler. She is the homeowner of the house that was fired into.
"The police need to get out here and do their job," Butler said.
NewsChannel 12 reached out to the Kinston Department of Public Safety. The department says they are aware of the recent shootings and are increasing their resources to investigate the crimes.
Two weeks ago, three people were shot outside a home on East Capitola Ave., where one of those victims died from his shooting injuries. That happened on November 5.
There was also a shooting near the St. James AME Church where a vehicle was fired at. This incident also happened on November 5.
