Former bail bondsman arrested for alleged kidnapping, extortion
A former bail bondsman was arrested in Pitt County for allegedly kidnapping a man and extorting him for money.
According to the Pitt County Sheriff's Office, 55-year-old Terrance Holloway held a man against his will for two days. They also said Holloway demanded the man to give him $5,500.
The victim told deputies Holloway threatened to have him deported if he did not pay the money. The victim had missed a court case for a DWI.
The victim also told investigators he was handcuffed and brought to Jacksonville.
Deputies said the victim was held at a business, and then moved to a trailer at night over the course of two days. Holloway let the victim go when he couldn't get the money, said investigators.
Deputies said what Holloway did would have been legal. But his bail bondsman license had been suspended about a year ago for not paying child support.
Holloway was arrested in Jacksonville and has been charged with second-degree kidnapping, extortion, and attempting to obtain money by false pretense He was being held in the Pitt County Detention Center on a $210,000 bond.
