JACKSONVILLE, ONSLOW COUNTY -

A fire at a Jacksonville boots store Thursday morning caused thousands of dollars in damage.

The fire happened just after 9 a.m. Thursday at Jack's Famous Texas Boots at 213 Western Blvd.

Fire Marshal John Reed said crews saw flames on an upper shelf of merchandise when they arrived at the scene. The store was not open at the time and firefighters had to break through a window to get inside.

The fire caused about $2,000 to $3,000 in damage, depending on the value of the merchandise, Reed said. The building itself suffered minor damage.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
