Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has been spotted back in the States after he was hospitalized in Italy over the weekend.
Bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tre Cool broke the news to fans in a video posted to Green Day's website on Sunday, explaining that due to Armstrong's illness, the group had to cancel their performance in Bologna.
"We apologize profusely ... but Billie got rushed to the hospital [Saturday] night due to illness, and doctors don't think it's a good idea for him to play ... This sucks," Dirnt said.
"We're beyond devastated, we're as sad as you guys are. Billie's extremely upset about it," Cool chimed in. "We'll see you very soon."
By Tuesday, Armstrong was seen in Los Angeles, as TMZ's photographers caught up with him at the airport.
The singer couldn't talk about his ordeal, though - he pointed to his throat and whispered that he's lost his voice.
