ECU reports student attacks only hours after Halloween's end

GREENVILLE, PITT COUNTY - Two separate attacks are reported near the campus of ECU as downtown Greenville Halloween celebrations came to a close. 

An assault was reported at about 2 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Berkley Blvd. and 14th St., according to a release from East Carolina Univeristy Police. 

Approximately 4-7 unidentified male suspects fled on foot towards College Hill Drive after the attack, said police.  The subject assaulted was transported to Vidant Medical Center for his injuries.

About a half hour later at roughly 2:30 a.m. approximately 8-9 subjects, both male and female committed a strong armed robbery near Jenkins Art and 5th St.

Both victims were robbed of their cell phones, said police.  

The suspects then separated into two groups.  Police report the majority of the suspects left the scene in a blue Toyota Camry, heading east on 5th St. The remainder of the subjects fled on foot towards central campus.

At last check, police said there was no immediate threat to the public.
