ECU Police said they have arrested a second suspect involved in a fight before a home football game that injured a fan.
According to investigators, 24-year-old Stefan James Vaughan, of Currituck County, was arrested on Monday. He has been charged with assault inflicting serious injury and was being held under a $25,000 bond.
Vaughan, along with 21-year-old Blade Hunter Perdue, of Clayton, are accused of being involved in a fight before the ECU football game against Old Dominion on Aug. 31. The fight started at about 5:40 p.m. at the Student Pirate Club parking lot because a beer bottle was thrown at a truck, police said.
According to investigators, the victim had to be taken to a hospital. His identity and extent of injuries were not released.
Perdue was arrested on Sept. 3 and was charged with assault inflicting serious injury and simple assault. He was being jailed on a $5,000 bond.
According to school officials, Perdue and Vaughan are not current or past ECU students. They will be banned from campus, said ECU Police Deputy Chief Jason Sugg.
"Violence has no place on our campus, and will not be tolerated in any form," said Chancellor Steve Ballard. "I encourage all members of the ECU community to uphold our shared Pirate values through the remainder of this football season, and every day."
