GREENVILLE, Pitt County - An East Carolina University student is in search of her bike that was recently stolen. But this bicycle is not your average two-wheeled vehicle.
Bailey Cooper is a junior at ECU. She received the bike from her father, Nelson Cooper. He was a popular professor at the school who lost his battle with ALS. He gave her the bike when he was diagnosed, knowing their time was limited together.
"It's really important to get it back," Bailey Cooper said. "For a lot of people, it would just be a bike, not a big deal. You can replace them, it's easy. This one is so special and I'm sure the person who took it doesn't know that.
"I pray for them that they need it and enjoy it if it doesn't get returned. But it's special and I'd really love to have it."
If you spot the bike, Cooper asked that you return it to ECU Police or local police. There is a cash reward for its return.
