Duo accused of break-ins at Pamlico County business

Two men were arrested for allegedly breaking into several storage units at a Pamlico County business.

According to the Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to Scott's Heating and Plumbing on Highway 55 in Reelsboro on Sept. 17. Several vehicles and storage units were broken into, and multiple power tools and other items were stolen, investigators said.

On Oct. 4, authorities searched the Craven County home of 34-year-old Kenneth Allen Hendricks, said deputies. The suspect was arrested and charged with eight counts of felony breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, two counts of felony breaking and entering of a building, two counts of felony larceny, two counts of misdemeanor larceny, and one count of possession of stolen property.

On Oct. 11, Edgar Barfield Jr., 25, of Craven County, was also arrested in connection with the break-ins, according to investigators. He was charged with eight counts of felony breaking and entering of a motor vehicle,  two counts of felony breaking and entering of a building, two counts felony larceny, two counts of misdemeanor larceny, and a count of possession of stolen property.

Hendricks was being held in the Pamlico County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond. His first court appearance was scheduled for Friday.

Hendricks had previously been arrested for obtaining property by false pretense, forgery, and breaking and entering, deputies said.

Barfield was being held in the Pamlico County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond.  His first court appearance was also scheduled for Friday.
