NEW BERN, CRAVEN COUNTY -

A driver has been charged in a three-vehicle wreck near New Bern High School that injured two people.

The wreck happened on Highway 17 at Academic Drive before 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

According to New Bern Police, the driver of a Ford Mustang (pictured) ran a red light on Highway 17 and crashed into a Toyota Corolla, pushing the Toyota into a Nissan Altima.

The Mustang and Corolla drivers suffered non life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital, police said. The Mustang driver, described as a woman about 50 years old, will be charged with a red light violation, according to investigators.
