Police arrest suspect in armed robbery, shooting
Police have arrested a man in connection with an armed robbery and shooting at a Greenville apartment complex.
According to jail records, 40-year-old David Battiste has been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon, and discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling or moving vehicle. He was being held under a $1,000,000 bond.
The armed robbery happened at the Nathaniel Village apartment complex at about 11:45 p.m. Monday, police said. The two victims, who are brothers, were sitting inside a pick-up truck when two suspects came up on foot and attempted to rob them, according to investigators.
One of the victims said the suspect carrying a gun told him to get out of the truck. The victim said when he refused, the suspect fired the gun into the passenger window, shattering the glass.
The suspects then fled the scene in a white Ford F-150, investigators said. Anyone with information on the second suspect is asked to call the Greenville Police Department at 252-329-4315.
