Deputies searching for robbery suspect

Suspect stripped clothes in the woods

JAMES CITY - Craven county deputies are looking for a man they say robbed a convenience store, and then stripped his clothes in some woods after he ran from the scene.

The robbery happened Friday night around 10:00 at the Express It gas station in James City. A white male entered the business wearing a mask. Deputies said the man demanded $60 from the cashier. A weapon was not visible, but deputies think the man may have implied he had one.

After getting the money, the suspect then fled on foot. A deputy chased after him, but lost him in a wooded area near Old Cherry Point Road. His clothes were recovered there.

No one was hurt in the robbery.
