A man was arrested after he allegedly stole a TV, left, and then returned to rob a convenience store in Pitt County, according to the Sheriff's Office.
A press release states that deputies were called to an armed robbery at the Country Mart on Highway 11 near Bethel at 2:30 a.m. Sunday. A clerk there told law enforcement she noticed a TV had been stolen from the trucker's lounge of the store. Deputies said Jacob Addison Futrell had taken the TV, changed clothes, and returned to the store and told the clerk to give him all of the money out of the cash register. Futrell then allegedly left the scene in a black four door truck.
A few minutes later, deputies saw a truck matching that description at a Sheetz store on Highway 11. That's where Futrell was stopped and taken into custody.
When deputies reviewed surveillance footage from the Country Mart, they allegedly saw Futrell in the store before the robbery.
Deputies charged Futrell with misdemeanor larceny and armed robbery.
He also was charged with larceny by employee in a separate case on August 26.
He was taken to the Pitt County Detention Center under a $50,000 bond.
