A teen who did not return to a juvenile rehabilitation center in Kinston has been found, officials said.
Deputies in Halifax County found Joshua D. in a wooded area near Lincoln Heights Thursday morning, according to the N.C. Department of Public Safety. He was apprehended at about 6 a.m. and has been returned to a juvenile detention center.
Investigators said the search for Joshua D. began on Sunday, Aug. 24, when he failed to return to the Dobbs Youth Development Center in Kinston after a home visit in Halifax County.
The Dobbs Youth Development Center is a facility that rehabilitates at-risk juveniles.
"[Youth development centers] provide mentoring, education and therapeutic treatment to prepare youth for a fresh start when they re-enter their communities," said the NC. Department of Public Safety on its website. "YDCs promote learning and development through a wide range of educational and vocational courses."
