WILLIAMSTON, MARTIN COUNTY - Deputies said they are investigating the stabbing death of a man in Martin County as a possible suicide.
According to the Martin County Sheriff's Office, investigators received a call from a home on Prison Camp Road near Williamston at about 1:10 a.m. Wednesday. The 911 caller said her boyfriend had committed suicide by stabbing himself in the chest, according to deputies.
Once Martin County deputies and Williamston officers arrived at the the scene, they found the man dead, the Sheriff's Office stated.
Deputies said the death remains under investigation.
Martin County deputies are investigating a fatal stabbing near Williamston Wednesday morning.
The attack was reported at about 1:20 a.m. Wednesday on the 3100 block of Prison Camp Road west of Williamston, according to the Martin County Sheriff's Office. Crime scene tape surrounds a mobile home at the location.
Lt. Drew Robinson confirmed that one person was killed in the stabbing. But the victim's identity has not been released.
There is no word on a motive or whether deputies have a suspect in mind.
Investigators remain at the location, and officials with the State Bureau of Investigation are on the way there to help process the scene.
