WILMINGTON, NEW HANOVER COUNTY - An Onslow County high school student has been suspended for an alleged incident inside a Wilmington school locker room, and deputies said charges may soon be filed.
According to the New Hanover Sheriff's Office, the incident happened inside a locker room at Wilmington Christian Academy Tuesday night. The incident involved students from Dixon High School, located near Holly Ridge in Onslow County, said deputies. One of those Dixon High School students has been suspended.
Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. Jerry Brewer said the incident involved juveniles, but did not release details on what happened inside the locker room. Brewer said charges may be filed next week.
Dixon was at Wilmington Christian Academy Tuesday night to play in a basketball game.
Onslow County Schools spokeswoman Suzie Ulbrich released the following statement:
"We are aware of an incident that took place in the locker room at Wilmington Christian Academy in New Hanover County Tuesday evening prior to a basketball game. We are cooperating fully with law enforcement. A Dixon High School student allegedly involved in the incident is currently on summary suspension pending the outcome of a thorough investigation by the school and by the New Hanover County Sheriff's Department in cooperation with the Onslow County Sheriff's Department."
