GRIFTON, PITT COUNTY -

Deputies arrested a man who allegedly broke into a barn several times to steal large equipment and power tools.

James Earl Bostic, 54, of Ayden, has been charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of stolen property, and possession of a stolen firearm, investigators said. He was being held in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $125,00 secured bond.

According to deputies, they were informed on July 8 of a barn break-in on Maple Cypress Road in Grifton.

The owner of the barn returned to the property on July 20, and discovered that numerous power tools were missing, deputies said. The owner then installed a camera system to help identify the suspect.

The camera system caught Bostic returning to the barn on two more occasions and loading stolen items into his vehicle, deputies said.

Investigators said when they searched Bostic's home, they recovered a blue trailer, several construction ladders, a pool ladder, a pool pumping system, a fire pit, power tools, a generator, a Pioneer surround sound system, and two shotguns.
