HUBERT, ONSLOW COUNTY - Two suspects were jailed for allegedly beating a man and forcing the victim to stick a shotgun into his mouth.
According to investigators, 18-year-old Anthony Luna and 20-year-old Arande Walker, both of Hubert, confronted Travis Napier and William Bogey at 143 Wayne Road in Hubert. The dispute was over drugs, deputies said.
Luna and Walker allegedly used a shotgun to beat Bogey, hitting him several times in the head and face. Walker then told Bogey to put the barrel of the shotgun in his mouth, deputies said. When the victim refused, he was beaten more, according to investigators. Walker allegedly fired the shotgun in the air during the attack.
Napier was also beaten with the shotgun while trying to escape, deputies said. He and Bogey were taken to a Carteret County hospital. Napier was treated and released, while Bogey was transferred to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, where he underwent surgery.
Their alleged attackers were arrested at a home on Pine Grove Babptist Church Road, deputies said. Luna has been charged with one count of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, and was being held under a $50,000 secured bond.
Meanwhile, Walker has been charged with two counts assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. He was jailed under a $300,000 secured bond.
